VERMONT NORTH BY HAND
ARTISANS CO-OP

We are an all-volunteer organization of Vermont & New Hampshire artists and craftspeople in the Upper Connecticut River Valley, specifically Bradford, Corinth, Fairlee, Newbury, Orford, Piermont, South Ryegate, Topsham and Vershire.

Founded in 2005, VNBH exists to promote the arts in the greater area and to enrich our community through a variety of projects and special events. Our members produce a wide spectrum of both functional and decorative art items, which can be seen at our Annual VNBH Open Studio Tour.

The primary vehicle for promoting local arts in the area is our annual Fall Open Studio Tour.
Plan to take advantage of this uniquely intimate opportunity to visit artisans in their studios. While there, you can speak with them about their art-making process, see work in progress, and purchase items.

Education is part of our mission.

As another way of promoting the arts in our Upper Connecticut River Valley region, many of our artisans are also involved in sharing their skills with others:

  • Artisans teach classes in wheel throwing and hand building pottery, weaving, and painting in various mediums
including oils, watercolors, pastels and acrylics
  • Demonstrations at craft fairs
  • Teen apprentice program is in the organizing stage with a number of VNBH artisans committed to participating
  • Mentoring
  • 4-H leader volunteer teaching sewing to 7 – 13 year olds
  • Gallery shows
