Robin Ascher

Robin Ascher Ceramics

Each of my handmade pieces is made from clay slabs impressed with my own unique linoleum carvings. My ceramics are inspired by the flora and fauna of the White Mountains of New Hampshire, where I live and have my studio. I am a juried member of the League of NH Craftsmen and my work is featured in independent galleries and museum shops. I studied ceramics in the mountains of Seto, Japan and then became a textile designer in London and New York. Pattern, texture and color combine to create my signature “Ascher look.”  My functional yet unusual pottery vases, bowls, plates and trays are unlike any you will find in stores. As my journey evolves, so do my unique pieces. Each kiln load brings forth something fresh for your collection. The warmth of artist-designed, handmade ceramics will enrich your life.

Linda Baccei - art quilts

Linda Baccei

I make art quilts. I work in several different styles. Some of my quilts border on traditional and some are highly abstract, especially those that utilize my own hand-dyed fabric. I have developed a style which appears to be unique, which I call “window art.” These pieces do not fit the definition of a quilt (three layers tied together), but they are certainly in the spirit of piecework. They come closest to the Korean tradition of piecework called Pojagi.

Inspired by natural world and by both environmental science and physics, my work focuses on the forces that form the land, and on the species with which we share the earth. While my wildlife work is more realistic, my landscape work is abstract. I primarily work in water media — watercolor, acrylic, gouache.

Robert Chapla - Vermont artist

Robert Chapla
Hidden Springs Studio

My paintings range from realistic to abstract with most based on landscapes I have experienced. They are for the most part developed and finished in the studio, but occasionally I will paint en plein air because of the unique light, mood and ideas a specific setting affords. This helps to rejuvenate my interior work, giving it a freshening of color. I attempt to impart to my paintings an expressive movement – featuring rhythm, texture and fauve-like color. Lately I have added more fluid acrylic effects – an attempt to achieve an interactive, rhythmic unity to the work.

Louise Glass - jeweler

Louise Glass

My work as a metalsmith is founded in and through the passion of the natural world and its infinite variety of imaginative forms. Essential to this vision, are the expressive properties of the materials I use so that, whether in design with natural elements like pearls and gemstones or in metal work, something of the process by means of which the piece has been made is evoked in the finished work. Therefore, hammer marks and/or evidence of the work of the hands are purposely retained as integral features of the design of each piece so as to reflect both their material origin and destiny as new interpretations of the beauty of the natural world.

Stephanie Gordon

Stephanie Gordon

I create encaustic paintings. Encaustic painting is a very ancient and beautiful method of creating luminous art from pigmented molten waxes called encaustics. I often incorporate handmade papers, foils, thread and elements of image transfer into the work. Many of my encaustic paintings are landscapes. The qualities of depth and light created by the use of layers of semi-transparent wax are well suited for painting landscapes. My paintings invite you to enter into the New England countryside.

Mary Hays Weaving

As a weaver, I love experimenting with color and texture. Everything I make (rugs, placemats, dishtowels, scarves) is an adventure for me. After putting a warp on a loom, it becomes a canvas on which to play with colors and patterns and discover new effects as the warp is magically transformed into cloth.

My knitting process is meditative. I do not follow patterns, which would involve too much thinking. Most of my hand knits are rectangular – scarves, shawls, throws – and, usually, the yarns tell me what they want to become. I like to think of my knitting as painting with yarn; creating wearable fiber art by combining color and texture.
